From Helsinki to Lapland: A Magical Journey Through Finland’s Winter Wonderland

The Women’s Travel Group recently embarked on an unforgettable journey through Finland, exploring the vibrant city of Helsinki and the breathtaking landscapes of Lapland. From iconic architecture to heartwarming cultural experiences, every moment was filled with magic.

This incredible journey kicked off in the bustling capital city of Helsinki, where we were immediately drawn in by the breathtaking architecture, cutting-edge design, and fascinating history. One of the highlights of our time in Helsinki was our visit to the community library Oodi, a true architectural gem that not only houses a vast collection of books but also serves as a hub for cultural activities such as music recording, 3D printing, and the awe-inspiring Helix spiral staircase.

As we ventured into Lapland, it felt like we were stepping into a real-life winter wonderland. Meeting Santa, his trusty reindeer, and the charming Elf Sparkles was an absolute delight. We savored the flavors of traditional Finnish and Lappish cuisine, indulging in dishes like reindeer stew, arctic char, and salmon soup, as well as enjoying treats such as rye bread, forest berries, Salmiakki, and heavenly Fazer chocolate.

Immersing ourselves in the rich Sami culture, we were mesmerized by the enchanting yoiks and captivated by the stories and traditions shared inside a traditional Sami tent. Meeting Jussi, the mastermind behind the Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort, was a true honor as we marveled at the incredible oasis he has created for us to enjoy in Lapland.

The absolute highlight of our adventure was the heart-pounding husky dog sledding through the snowy forests, where we couldn't help but fall in love with the adorable puppies we met along the way. And then, as if on cue, the magical northern lights made a grand appearance in the starry skies above during our reindeer sleigh ride, with the vibrant colors dancing just for us. It was a truly enchanting and unforgettable moment that will forever be etched in our hearts and minds.
